Pick up a bow and give it a go
Thinking about doing a ten-week beginners’ longbow course, but not sure if archery is the sport for you?
No problem. Try a one-hour taster session on Friday 20 May with our experienced longbow archery coaches and see if it’s for you. Friday night is currently our ‘quiet’ night, so you’ll be able to come along, try one of our ash training longbows and check out the facilities without too many people around. Different strengths and sizes of bow are available, so if you aren’t strong, don’t worry – it’s a myth that traditional archers all need to have strong arms.
The taster session can be for a junior archery (age 7-17 years) or an adult (age 18+). Just let us know who you are when you book. There’s no obligation to do a course after you visit and we won’t pester you! The price is per person.
The club at White Dragon Activity Centre is called Bures Dragons. An Archery GB club, it specialises in traditional archery (longbows, horsebows etc) and emphasises a friendly, fun, supportive atmosphere. It is the only club in the surrounding counties to have access to a full clout (long-distance) and woodland field shoot range, as well as an outdoor and indoor range. The club meets Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays 5-8pm, indoors during the winter and outdoors during the summer, and welcomes all ages and abilities.
If you are not a competent archer already, you’ll need to do a Beginners’ Course with White Dragon Activity Centre before joining, but there’s no obligation to do that after coming for a taster and we won’t ‘hard sell’ at you!
