Join us every Wednesday in the Easter Holidays for a full six-hour day of outdoor fun together!
Friendly coaches will guide you through archery, axe throwing, target airguns, bushcraft and an early spring nature watch. Suitable for ages 7+. All children must be accompanied by an adult (no drop-offs please). If you’re a grown-up and would like to take part in the activities yourself, you can (we have bows etc for adults too) – please just book for yourself too. If you’re just watching, no need to pay for yourself.
All sessions take place in our beautiful outdoor ranges and woodland. Please bring along a raincoat, sensible waterproof shoes and a lunch. Hot drinks and s’mores (gluten and sugar free) will be provided. Seating, tea and coffee are available for adults who are ‘along for the ride’.
After a full safety briefing and demonstration by our coach, you’ll be kitted out with age-appropriate (but real) bows and arrows. Coaches will be on hand to help you stay safe and improve your technique as you launch your arrows at targets. Whether you’ve done archery at school or never tried it before, we’ll build your confidence and help you to increase your skills.
Airsoft target shooting
Airsoft guns are a low-powered spring or air gun which shoot plastic BBs. They’re light and don’t have the ‘kick’ of a real gun, which makes them a good way to get the feel of target shooting and learn to respect the safety rules of guns without using firearms.
Our coach will instruct you in safety and show you how to shoot your lightweight pistol before calling you up in turns to have a go at shooting targets. We’ll be on hand to guide you and keep you safe while you learn how to aim and fire. Will you be an eagle-eyed sharpshooter?
Head into the trees for a survival skills session with our expert coach. Learn useful skills for surviving a night in the wilderness, from den-building and finding everything you need in the woods to spotting signs of animals and discovering how our ancestors made fire… the topics will change each week, so if you come to more than one session, you’ll discover different things each time!
Dragon Wood sees all kinds of animals and birds – deer, buzzards, red kites, mice, shrews, badgers and foxes all live there, and in springtime they all become very active. The animals make their home amongst all kinds of trees, plants and fungi and we’ll teach you to identify some of them – have you ever heard of a King Alfred’s Cake? Do you know which animals live in really clean streams? Find out on our nature walk. If you’re very lucky and very quiet, you might spot some shy wildlife!
