Archery Club

White Dragon Activity Centre is proud to be the home of the Bures Dragons, our local archery club.

The Bures Dragons meet twice a week on Wednesday and Sunday evenings. They’re a traditional club, which means longbows, flatbows etc are allowed – but no modern forms of archery such as compound.

They are the only traditional club for many miles to boast use of four ranges: a clout range, an outdoor target range, an indoor winter range with snug and tea-making facilities, and a 14-target woodland field course.

Although there are regular field and clout competitions, the focus of the club is on developing archery skills in a relaxed, sociable environment and having fun.

Current members are aged between 7 and 80 and come from all over Essex and Suffolk to enjoy the facilities. We have members from Colchester, Sudbury, Braintree, Chelmsford, Clare and even Clacton.

How to join

If you’re interested in joining the club and aren’t experienced, one of our beginners’ archery courses for adults and children makes the perfect introduction to the sport. You’ll be able to try out the facilities under a coach’s guidance and, if you decide archery is for you, then you can join at the end of your course.
